Manchester United has made four signings throughout this summer after the appointment of Erik ten Hag as manager of the team. The club looked to be on a mission of assembling a new better squad for their new manager after signing Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, and Lisandro Martínez before the end of July.

However, United suddenly stopped because they were waiting for Frenkie De Jong to change his mind and leave Barcelona after both clubs had reached an agreement for the transfer of the player. Weeks later, the season started, and the Red Devils lost their first two games of the Premier League campaign.

Eric Bailly is just one step away from leaving Manchester United

This made Erik ten Hag and the club realize they needed to bring in some new quality players as soon as possible. For that reason, Casemiro was signed in less than a week, and now the club is ready to pay €94 million to Ajax for Antony after they agreed on personal terms with the 22-year-old.

The Dutch manager also wants a new goalkeeper following David De Gea’s shocking performance against Brentford when he gave away two goals after making two incredible mistakes. There have been a lot of names added to the shortlist but United have pushed for Yann Sommer, and Kevin Trapp in recent days as a short-term alternative.

The new name on the list

Today it was reported by Portugal’s news site Correio da Manha, that the English giants have shown interest in Porto’s Diogo Costa. However, they don’t have any intention of selling him this summer. Erik ten Hag is considering him as a long-term alternative to De Gea since Costa is only 22 years old, but he really wants a backup goalkeeper right now.
