As it was reported yesterday, Antony did not play in today’s match with Ajax against Sparta Rotterdam. In fact. He wasn’t even on the bench because he wasn’t part of the squad selected for the fixture. All this after he decided to skip the last two training sessions with his teammates right after his club rejected a bid from Manchester United.

Before the match began, Ajax manager Alfred Schreuder was asked by ESPN why he left Antony out of the team for the match. The 49-year-old admitted that he is thinking of leaving: “Antony is not in the squad. I spoke with Antony and he told me that he didn’t feel 100% ready to play. I only want players in the squad that are 100% focused on Ajax”.

It is being reported by GOAL Brazil that the 22-year-old winger has imposed his desire to the Amsterdam giants in recent days and asked to be absent from all activities and matches until there is a decision about his future. The player is waiting for Manchester United to make a new offer to Ajax and hopes it will be accepted.

After the final whistle, Schreuder was asked again about Antony, to which he said he doesn’t want to lose him: “I want Antony to stay. I am assuming that the club will not sell him. The money that is being thrown around these days is crazy. But I would not find it okay if we sell another player. We are in a powerful position, financially”.

A low blow

The Dutch coach also took the time to send a little message to Manchester United and Erik ten Hag: “Yes, my feeling is good. I understand Antony. But you play for Ajax. we are playing Champions League football. I don’t think Manchester United are playing Champions League football”.
