One of Manchester United’s top targets at the moment is Juventus’ Adrien Rabiot after the deal with Frenkie De Jong seems less unlikely every day. The Dutchman seems to prefer a move to Chelsea, over Old Trafford because The Blues will play in the UEFA Champions League this season. But his priority is staying at Barça.
Yesterday, it was confirmed by numerous sources that Manchester United and Juventus reached an agreement for Rabiot for a fee of around £19 million. Since then, Erik ten Hag personally called the French midfielder and his mother in order to convince them to sign with his team and guaranteed him minutes on the field.

Today Italy’s reporter for Sky Sports Di Marzio, announced that the transfer is currently blocked because of the ‘as-yet-unfound’ deal between the English club and the player. Another Italian journalist, Fabrizio Romano added that the biggest problem during the negotiations was Rabiot’s salary. He has one of the highest wages in Italy and doesn’t want them to be reduced.
Hopefully, this problem gets solved as quickly as possible because Manchester United really needs a new centre-midfielder. Even if he is not the greatest player out there, he is definitely better than the current starting players in that position like Fred and McTominay. Also, it’s been said that his arrival wouldn’t get in the way of the signing of another midfielder like Sergej Milinković-Savić.
