Some big news are coming from FC Barcelona’s camp this Wednesday morning, after Sergiño Dest is now considering accepting a loan proposal from another Spain club Villarreal and he would be open to discussing the possibility. The Yellow Submarine are currently in talks with Barca, but eventually, the decision is up to the player, as per Fabrizio Romano.

This would change Erik ten Hag’s plans on the last day of the transfer window since he was desperately trying to convince the Manchester United board that he was needed and could be an upgrade to Aaron Wan-Bissaka on the right-back position and would be the perfect competition for Diogo Dalot.

Last night it was also reported from Spain’s popular TV show El Chiringuito, that the Man United manager had called Sergiño Dest to tell him that they will be coming after him once they sorted out the English right-back situation. Dario Montero reported that the manager told the United States right-back to wait for him a little bit longer.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed on his Twitter account that the English giants would only make a move if Wan-Bissaka first leaves the club. However, this is looking less likely since the only two clubs that have approached Old Trafford asking for him are Crystal Palace and West Ham United. The Eagles didn’t want to pay more than €12m when they sold him to United for €55m back in 2019.

The possible destination

Villarreal currently only have Juan Foyth in the right-back position, so it makes sense that Unai Emery is pushing for a young right-back with previous experience in La Liga like Sergiño Dest. Nevertheless, the fact that they will be playing in the UEFA Europa Conference League this season, might make the player choose Man United, who will play in the Europa League.
