Mason Greenwood is attracting interest from Barcelona ahead of a possible summer transfer, according to reports from Spain. The Manchester United forward is currently on a season-long loan at Getafe. In his 13 starts for Jose Bordalas, Greenwood has scored three goals and assisted four times and that form is understood to have brought about attention from fellow LaLiga sides.

The in-form loanee is said to have caught the eye of Barcelona who have been monitoring the 22-year-old. They could make a move for the forward at the end of the season, according to The Sun. He will enter the final 12 months of his contract with United in the summer, with Atletico Madrid and Valencia also credited with an interest in recent weeks.

Getafe boss Bordalas said last month: "Greenwood is a different player, with a lot of talent but in this football talent is not the main thing. It takes more work than talent. We were confident because of the talent, because of the level he has had. Being able to opt for a player of this level at Getafe is complicated, almost impossible. And well, given the situation, we bet on him. We are happy and content because we have a great player, he is a good boy, he has fitted in really well and he just needs to learn a little more Spanish."

Getafe president Angel Corres has previously said that his side would consider moving for Greenwood. "We have talked about looking at the situation and seeing what they propose because there has also been a change of shareholding there at Manchester United," he said. Greenwood was suspended by United in January 2022 amid allegations of attempted rape, assault and controlling and coercive behaviour. A lengthy investigation into the case then followed, with the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) dropping all charges against Greenwood in February 2023.

A United statement at the time read: "Manchester United notes the decision of the Crown Prosecution Service that all charges against Mason Greenwood have been dropped. The club will now conduct its own process before determining next steps. We will not make any further comment until that process is complete." Greenwood left United for Getafe on loan following the conclusion of that internal investigation last year.
