Erik Ten Hag, has been looking for new players to reinforce the team for the next season, the pre-season is getting closer and United has not yet been able to clarify agreements with new players who could come to the club and with players who are already in the institution, but in their last years of contract.
Manchester United, to date does not have much budget to spend a lot of money, because thanks to the Glazer's financial mismanagement the team has a debt of more than 700 million, due to this situation the coach is working against the clock, because in addition to having to improve the squad, he would also seek to retain players who were once essential to the club; it is a titanic task that Ten Hag will have to do if he wants to give illusions and hopes to the fans in his second season at the helm of the Red Devils.
One of the players looking to stay at the club is Spanish goalkeeper David de Gea, whose contract expires this season and who is set to become a free agent on 1 July. De Gea and Ten Hag have had a long-running feud this summer, with the two sides unable to come to an agreement at any point and this is said to have caused tension between the two.
The contract renewal offer that Manchester United had offered the goalkeeper would have included a salary of around 325,000 per week, the player had already signed it, but United at the last moment had doubts with the agreed salary and would not sign, so they would have warned De Gea that this offer was no longer on the table and that he would have to lower his salary even more if he wanted to stay at the club.
The Manchester United manager is looking to replace the Spanish goalkeeper for the start of next season, André Onana is the preferred choice for Ten Hag, who has already been approached by Inter Milan for the player's services.
