Manchester United continues to prepare everything for the start of the Premier League, the team had its second match of the pre-season against the French club Lyon; as we already know the coach is looking during these matches for young players or players who do not have much participation in the season, to show their skills and have the opportunity to earn a place in the first team.

Goalkeeping is one of the positions that the coach has been looking at the most and although the arrival of André Onana is getting the fans very excited and is expected to have an immediate impact, it is true that in Ten Hag's scheme nobody has a guaranteed place, for that reason, the players must perform at the highest level, as the coach provides the same opportunities for everyone.

The Cameroonian goalkeeper is only a few hours away from his official arrival, but while he arrives at the club, passes his medical exams and joins the team, another goalkeeper could take advantage of the opportunity that the pre-season games offer to fight for a starting place.

And while we all want to see Onana in a Red Devils shirt, we must also look at other players who have not been given much playing time or who simply know that this is their last chance to prove their qualities that keep them at the club, otherwise the manager would have to let them go by the end of the summer.

The goalkeeping position

As we all know André Onana will most probably be the starting goalkeeper for the Premier League, however, there have been rumours that the manager is looking for a backup goalkeeper with the qualities of ball handling and goalkeeping; now during these two pre-season games, Ten Hag could make use of his goalkeeper Matej Kovar, the 23 year old Czech player has shown his great skills during the games, so he could be a great option for the manager without the need to spend money in the market.
