With just a couple of weeks to go before the Premier League season kicks off and Manchester United face Wolves, the manager still has to continue preparing the team for the three remaining games of the pre-season; after losing two consecutive matches, Erik Ten Hag wants to get back to winning ways, in order to arrive with pace and momentum for the start of the domestic season.
The Red Devils have so far played four friendlies with a mix of the regular squad and academy youngsters, winning three and losing the last one against Real Madrid which in theory was the most complicated test for the team, however, some mistakes early in the game made them unable to recover and in the end they ended up losing by a score of 2-0.
Now for the game against Borussia Dortmund on Sunday in Las Vegas, Ten Hag will have to make some changes in the starting 11 after the injury of the young stars Kobbie Mainoo and Amad Diallo, who had been starting in the previous games, even so, one of the most important decisions that the coach has to make will be in the defensive part.
As we already know the other positions are well covered so far, with the exception of the striker who is already working on the new signing; the defence is one of the parts that needs to be improved, specifically in the right back position, for that reason Ten Hag spoke about it and gave a resolution on the issue of who he should put in.
In the right winger position there are two players fighting for the starting position, on one side is Dalot, who before the middle of last season was Ten Hag's first choice, however, Wan-Bissaka has had a phenomenal development that has boosted his career at Old Trafford, plus during pre-season the coach has put him as a starter, so it is thought that he will continue in the same way during the season and will keep the English defender as his first choice.
