Manchester United completed the quest for their first of four potential titles this season after they win the Carabao Cup competition last night at Wembley. The Red Devils beat Newcastle United 2-0 after ninety minutes of football to become champions.
It wasn't a great opening minute for the Red Devils but they broke the deadlock after Casemiro scored the opener on the day. The Brazilian midfielder rose ahead of everyone to score the opener for Manchester United from a freekick cross by United fullback Luke Shaw.
Marcus Rashford thought he had extended the lead after five minutes with a Wout Weghorst assist but the goal was ruled as an own goal following a deflection of the ball on the way in. Rashford cared less as United got a good lead, which they saw out to victory.
A viral moment of the game has been trending on social media involving several United stars. Casemiro was seen questioning Bruno Fernandes for failing to pass the ball during their last counterattack before the game ended. Fernandes apologies as they laughed it off before going to pick up their medals.
Prior to the final, Erik Ten Hag revealed that he'll be relying on the quality and mentality of his experienced players like Casemiro and Varane to help United get their first trophy in six years. Casemiro's header led United to victory as they nullified all Newcastle United attacks to get their win yesterday.
