Manchester United conducted a massive clear-out of their squad during the summer after deciding on what type of future they wanted for themselves. The clearout saw a lot of positions become short of options and the club responded by bringing in new players.
While other areas of the pitch experienced this, the goalie position was rather safe as Erik ten Hag backed David De Gea to be his number one while Dean Henderson was sent out on loan to enjoy regular first-team football.

David De Gea has been the team's lifesaver on several occasions this season whenever he has been called upon, with a number of clean sheets to his name. The Spaniard has been phenomenal in front of his goal this season.
But there has been a constant issue surrounding De Gea this season as his contract is set to expire in the summer. The goalie missed out on the current World Cup campaign after the Spanish head coach refuse to call him for the Mundial.
Despite all the hints and clamor by De Gea to Manchester United about his contract situation, the Red Devils seem to have made their decision. According to the latest reports, Manchester United is not interested in renewing David De Gea's contract at the end of the season.
