The transfer window is still open for Premier League clubs until August 31st so there is a lot of movement happening as we are getting closer to the transfer deadline day. Now it looks like a player who was at Manchester United last season, might be on his way to one of the club’s biggest rivals in history Leeds United.

Juan Mata left Old Trafford this summer after not being offered a new contract by the club because of his age. At 34 years of age, the Spanish footballer had lost his place on the starting eleven a couple of seasons ago, but the last campaign was the breaking point as he wanted to play a little bit more in the last years of his career.

The midfielder is now a free agent and is on the lookout for a new team. It appears he could be signing with Leeds United in the final weeks of the summer according to Spain’s newspaper Marca. However, Fabrizio Romano has come out and said that there is still nothing agreed between Mata and Leeds. The Italian reporter also added that Real Oviedo’s interest is false.

The Special Juan

Juan Mata first arrived to the Premier League with Chelsea back in 2011 as one of the most talented and promising young players in Spain. After winning the UEFA Champions League and Europa League with The Blues he transferred to Manchester United. Sadly, he didn’t reach his full potential, but he was one of the best and most professional footballers at the club during his time. He will always be remembered by the United fans.
