Manchester United were overconfident in what was a shocking defeat, where it was clear that the team still has a long way to go in terms of football. Manchester City had no hesitation in proposing a game based on their powerful attack, and with a lot of pressure on their opponents who were not prepared to defend.
The citizens had a lot of attacking alternatives, they varied in their ways of getting forward. That was the great added value of the Belgian midfielder, Kevin De Bruyne, who varied in the ways he looked for space with his teammates. While Foden and Haaland had a field day with a Man Utd defence that looked confused.
Cristiano Ronaldo will be under more pressure at Man Utd
Cristiano Ronaldo's surprising reaction to Haaland's hat-trick
The thrashing had many moments, as the game was 4-0 at half time, Manchester United did not react with time, they conceded goals where they did not trouble their opponents, the Citizens took it upon themselves to feast on goals, pressuring Man Utd to lose the ball too quickly, as the game progressed the Red Devils played with more mistakes.
The anger reached such a level that Manchester United fans began to leave the Citizens' stadium. Unheard of for football fans, some Man Utd fans left with the entire second half of the match remaining. The images went around the world after watching the fans abandon their team.
The story has been a complicated one for the Red Devils over the last few seasons, the mockery started when the team did not perform well on the pitch, but when the videos of the fans leaving the stadium were leaked, it was when the criticism of the team's performance, but over the reliability of the fans, really began.
