Manchester United has a goal to achieve success in the course of the season, as they have strong projections for sporting development, since last season ended catastrophically, already at the end losing any chance of playing in the Champions League.

During the summer they brought in reinforcements for the team, most notably Danish free agent Christian Eriksen and 24-year-old Argentinean defender Lisandro Martinez. At the start of the season and after two consecutive heavy defeats, the team decided to spend more than £150 million on Brazilians Casemiro and Antony.

For these reasons the Man Utd fan should be optimistic

Since then the team has managed to win five of the last six games, which is a positive run. Add to this that in the victories this season, on three occasions the opposition have been kept clean sheets. This shows that the defence is vital, and has reinvented itself after defender Harry Maguire's lack of security.

The first key to maximum success is to maintain a defence that is at an optimum level. Raphael Varane at 29 is returning to what he once was at Real Madrid, in large part by forming a partnership that has worked very well alongside Argentine newcomer Lisandro Martinez.

Man Utd have the pieces to beat Man City, Liverpool and any team fighting for the title, they only have to use them

The attack is vital, as Cristiano returns to form, Marcus Rashford is in good form as is his compatriot, Jadon Sancho. The return of Anthony Martial from injury to add to that, and the star Brazilian signing, Antony. It combines dynamism, youth, experience and talent.

And finally, Eriksen to remain the pivot of the team in midfield, so that Casemiro can adapt, have a role and start producing good football. The Red Devils are in this transition.
