With about 24 hours left to the game at Old Trafford between Manchester United and Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup semifinal second leg, the Red Devils fans' excitement has been fizzled out by the latest development coming from the club.

Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag dropped some staggering news in his pre-match media presser early today. Ten Hag confirmed everyone's fears that Manchester United star, Christian Eriksen has picked up a long-term injury.

His injury occurred during United’s latest game against Reading in the FA Cup from a terrible tackle by Andy Carroll which United won 3-1. But it was a sad victory to celebrate as Eriksen was seen walking out of Old Trafford in crutches, which created s meltdown amongst fans.

According to Ten Hag, Erisken has been ruled out for a couple of months after a medical assessment of the seriousness of his injury. The Danish midfielder will be out till as far as late April or early May, which means he is missing almost the entire second half of the season. He will certainly not be available to for tomorrow's game at Old Trafford.

How is Manchester United handling it?

While the fans are shocked about the development, Erik Ten Hag and Manchester United are already looking to bring in a replacement. They've opened talks with Bayern Munich to sign Marcel Sabitzer on loan till the end of the season. The negotiations are still ongoing and it will be a race against time for United to complete the deal.
