The team coached by Erik Ten Hag took part in a tour of the United States, the first team squad had the opportunity to travel along with the rest of the young players who had participated in the first two matches played in Norway and Scotland; although they are still preparation matches the coach would have put a lot of focus on the team's performance.

In the first game of the tour, Manchester United took on Arsenal in a match where the Red Devils were able to dominate from start to finish, with great performances from players such as Jadon Sancho and Bruno Fernandes, so it was expected that the rest of the games the team would continue to improve to find their rhythm for the start of the Premier League.

However, things did not work out that way, as in the remaining three games of the tour, United lost each of them; first against Wrexham, although Ten Hag employed the U21 players, then against Real Madrid, which was supposed to be the most attractive game of the pre-season and the toughest test, the club could not overcome the injury to young star Kobbie Mainoo and Jude Bellingham's early goal.

For the last game, they were hoping to get a win to break the two-game losing streak and end the tour of the United States in the best possible way, but after starting winning, the Red Devils let the victory slip away against Borussia Dortmund; prompting the manager to apologise to the fans for United's terrible performance in recent games and promise to improve in the remaining games.

What's next for United in pre-season

There are still two weeks to go before the Premier League kicks off, so there are still two warm-up games left, with the club facing Lens on 5 August and Athletic Club the following day, both at Old Trafford, so Ten Hag will have to pay vital attention to the training sessions in order for the team to improve their performance.
