Manchester United is already in Oslo to start with the first game of this pre-season tour that the club has, it will be around 4 countries and will conclude on August 6, just a week before the Premier League starts, so it is of vital importance these games for the team, which seeks to aspire to win everything during this season.

For Erik Ten Hag, these games are of paramount importance, as they are useful for the coach to see the performance of the players, as well as to give playing time to the young players so that they can gain confidence on the pitch and some of them can stay in the first team; Ten Hag would also look for a starting XI that can combine experienced players and youngsters.

On the other hand, a topic that many have been talking about in recent days has been the captaincy, as we must remember during last season in mid-February, Ten Hag would take the captain's armband from Harry Maguire, in addition to sending him to the bench, in order to give it to the Portuguese Bruno Fernandes, who would conclude the season as captain.

Although no official announcement has been made as to who will wear the armband for this new start of the campaign, we could deduce that it would continue to be the Portuguese midfielder for obvious reasons, although some media comment that Casemiro could be in the conversation to be taken into account, due to his career and experience; however, neither of them are available for the first pre-season game, so Ten Hag would have already designated another player.

Raphael Varane starts as captain

The 30-year-old French defender has only been with Manchester United for two seasons, but due to his experience and great track record, the manager has named him as captain for the first pre-season game against Leeds United, a great honour for Varane, who could prove that he is also an option to wear the armband this season.
