During the day there has been a lot of talk about André Onana and his imminent arrival at Old Trafford, the manager wants to keep adding the best players available and the Inter Milan goalkeeper is one of them, so he has all the fans very excited to see Onana in goal.

The Cameroonian goalkeeper is one of the big targets that Ten Hag would have been looking for all summer, since the departure of David de Gea, the coach would have to hurry to find his replacement and who better than Onana, with whom he would have already shared a time at Ajax, so both knew the game and in theory the signing could have been easier.

However, the situation was quite the opposite, as Inter Milan did not make it easy for United, who, despite having already agreed personal terms with the player, rejected the first two offers because they did not come close to the value the Italian club had put on the player, which is why the fans began to believe that the signing of Onana was going to fall through.

Consequently, Erik Ten Hag had to sell a player to give him enough room in the budget to make a third bid for the Cameroonian goalkeeper, therefore, according to a latest update, André Onana is very close to signing for the club and it could be made official in the next few hours.

How the sale of Tahith Chong influenced the club

The Dutch-born right winger was on loan with Birmingham last season, so when his loan ended he immediately had an offer from Luton Town, so the club would have received a percentage of that sale as they did not own Chong's full sporting rights, but with that transfer, Ten Hag would have had a bit more room in the budget.
