Erik Ten Hag is aware that young players are the future of the club, those coming through the youth ranks are the ones with the most vision for United and although their transition to the first team is not easy, some have the opportunity to show their skills.
Kobbie Mainoo made his Premier League debut in February when Manchester United beat Leicester City 3-0, during the 10 minutes he was on the pitch, he was able to demonstrate his good ball control and good passing, which would have impressed Ten Hag, who is always looking for that in his players and now could open a door for him to succeed.
Mainoo, who was able to secure a place in the squad just before Ten Hag announced the players who would be travelling for the start of pre-season, is now at Carrington preparing to get minutes during this series of games, and while the midfield position is full of great players such as Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes and newcomer Mason Mount, there is no doubt that the young star will be able to learn from the best.
On top of that, Academy boss Nick Cox underlined his pride in Kobbie, stressing that not many players can achieve what the youngster has achieved so far and explaining that Ten Hag only offers such opportunities to those who earn their place.
He is a 19-year-old English midfielder who has been with Manchester United since the youth ranks, made his Premier League debut during the 22/23 season and was awarded with the Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year trophy, now Ten Hag has given him a chance in the first team and we will see him compete for a place this season.
