Manchester United were able to make a historic comeback from two goals down to Nottingham Forest in the first five minutes of the game, but the Red Devils never gave up and kept creating more chances in front of goal, which ultimately proved to be the key to getting the three valuable points.

Ten Hag's side were able to overcome the early deficit, but what was even more surprising was their ability to overcome the injuries the club has been suffering in recent weeks, as two of their first team players were ruled out of the Nottingham game in recent days and the manager had to make last minute adjustments.

Mason Mount was the first player to be ruled out, after picking up a niggle in the game against Spurs and it was later revealed that he had a hamstring injury that would keep him out for 4-6 weeks; the second first-choice player to suffer an injury was Luke Shaw, the defender picked up an injury in training before the third game of the season and the new information came back with a muscle strain that will keep him out for 2 months.

This meant that Ten Hag had to put the best players available to replace them, one of those who could get his first start because of this was Diogo Dalot, who during the pre-season could not get the right back position so he was relegated to the bench as second choice after Wan Bissaka.

The Portuguese defender had shown good things during the pre-season friendlies and despite not getting the first team place, he is still one of Ten Hag's most reliable options, as now that he could get minutes against Nottingham, he was able to have 89% passing accuracy, 5/6 balls recovered and 84 total touches, showing that he took the opportunity presented to him with Luke Shaw's injury.
