Tom Cleverley was linked with Manchester United from a very young age, making his debut in 2008 with the U21 side, before making his way into the first team where he would make his debut until the 11/12 season, however, he would see very little action during that campaign.

His career with United, was full of irregularities, although Sir Alex Ferguson had confidence in the youngster, his playing time did not increase much, for the 12/13 season in which the Red Devils won the Premier League title, during that campaign the English midfielder was able to participate in 22 games scoring 2 goals and 3 assists; his best figure during his time with United.

After Ferguson's departure as manager, he could only stay in the team for 1 season and a half, as he was transferred to Aston Villa where he had much more participation, even so, at the end of the season Everton would sign him.

Undoubtedly his best years were after his arrival at Watford, in 2017 where he began to show his leadership and his level of play was growing until he became the captain of the team and a fundamental piece for the club, something that he could not do in his time at Manchester United, with which there were great expectations, but as happens with several players, they cannot with the demands of United.

The injury that kept him off the pitch

In recent seasons with Watford, Cleverley began to suffer from many injuries that were depleting him, one of those injuries began earlier this season when the English midfielder injured his Achilles tendon, it was an injury so strong that kept him out all year, without being able to have a good improvement Watford captain decided to end his football career at 33 years of age, so it surprised everyone with his decision
