The sale of Manchester United has taken longer than expected, as it has been seven months since the Glazer brothers announced they were putting the club up for sale. However, it seems that the final decision is close to being announced and the latest information would have Sheikh Jassim Al Thani very happy.

Over the last few months, Sheikh Jassim has made a series of offers to buy 100% of the team, which were rejected and renegotiated time and time again by the Glazer family. However, a few weeks ago the member of the Qatari royal family launched what would be his fifth and final offer.

That offer reached a sum of 6.5 billion euros, which would be the closest amount to the 7 billion that the Glazer family was originally asking for, and given the current valuation of the club, the offer would be very generous. In that respect, it appears that Sheikh Jassim has the edge over the proposal put forward by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who is only seeking a majority stake in the club.

Sheikh Jassim's latest offer also came with an ultimatum. That would be the final offer and was not open to further negotiations, so if rejected he would have no further interest in buying Manchester United. Such a warning seems to have had the expected effect for the Sheikh, as it is said that at least 4 of the 6 Glazer brothers would prefer the Qatari offer.

The latest on the sale of Manchester United

While days have passed in silence over the sale of Manchester United, there has been speculation that there is a lot of movement behind the curtains and it has been leaked that the Glazers have asked Sheikh Jassim's team of lawyers to have all the paperwork ready so that they can speed up the process once a final decision is made.
