Erik Ten Hag wants to continue to strengthen the squad for the start of next season, as he is looking for depth in all positions of the pitch to give him variety when it comes to fielding the starting XI, and the players he is looking for can help him in the other competitions.

As we already know, the manager has several key positions that he has been improving one by one this summer, first he started with the midfield and was able to reinforce it with Mason Mount, then in goal he is close to the arrival of André Onana and now one of his focuses would be the defensive part, this because Harry Maguire is getting closer and closer to leave the club.

According to some reports, West Ham would be interested in paying the 50 million pounds that Manchester United would be asking for the player; this because the coach would have already informed the player that he is not in his plans for next season, so the club would accept any offer that is presented by Maguire, as long as they could get rid of the player.

As well as not being much to the manager's liking, he is also not a fan favourite, however, the club could soon find a replacement for the British defender, who has also commented that the best thing for his football career would be to leave United, which seems sensible considering the possibility he would have if he were to stay at the club, as Ten Hag would not offer him many minutes and he would be wasting the opportunity to go to another club.

Maguire's replacement could be on the horizon

David Alaba is one of the defenders who has just been added to Manchester United's radar, after a season with Real Madrid, the player could leave for England, as according to sources close to the Spanish team, they are planning to try to sell him before the end of the summer, so Old Trafford could be Alaba's final destination.
