Manchester United remain in the never-ending saga of the takeover of the club, for nine long months the fans and the team have been waiting for a resolution that could give a face to the institution, in order to start a new era, however, a week into a new season, the Glazers are still without a decision on who will be the new owner.
Since the beginning of June, Sheikh Jassim Al Thani and businessman Sir Jim Ratcliffe, each presented their respective proposals and visions for the future of the club, but to date both candidates have not received any response from the American family, so the negotiations are beginning to enter a period of despair at seeing that there is no progress.
Similarly, during this time there have been endless rumours that either Sheikh Jassim or Jim Ratcliffe is the winner, however, despite media speculation it is not yet known who will remain as owner, so several legends who have lived through this long and arduous process have raised their voices with the intention of at least putting some pressure on the Glazers.
Rio Ferdinand and Gary Neville are two of the players who have spoken out on several occasions, commenting that since their time as footballers, the Red Devils had been in this situation, but due to the great successes the club had, the anger of the fans could not be perceived much; now that the situation has turned around it is more than evident that United need a renewal.
In an interview with BBC Radio, Ferdinand and Neville commented that one of the Glazers' problems is the wall of silence they have on the sale issue, as during pre-season games in the US, Avram refused to answer questions about takeover updates; the legends added: "Disgraceful.... But that's what they've done, dragging everything out, it's always in their best interest and not in the interest of the football club".
