Not Bruno Fernandes, the captain Marcus Rashford singled out as his favourite, surprises

Throughout its history Manchester United has had great players who have become figures in international football, in addition to that, their role within the club has been so important that the fans have their names engraved, because passion and leadership are qualities that a footballer must have and that never go unnoticed. 

Currently Erik Ten Hag has a very large squad of players capable of performing at the highest level, but few have the privilege of being named as captains; as we remember last season the Red Devils started with Harry Maguire as captain, something that certainly surprised everyone, as the defender is not specifically the favourite player of the fans, nor his performance is the best, so no one could explain the appointment. 

However, in the middle of the season the coach decided to revoke Maguire from that role, to give the armband to a player who deserved to be captain and who would eventually be reaffirmed with the captaincy for the 23/24 season: as speculated the player we are talking about is Bruno Fernandes, the Portuguese has made a big difference since his arrival at the club, his impact on and off the pitch has made him deserve to lead the team.  

This has undoubtedly made not only Ten Hag, who believes Bruno is the best man for the job, but all the fans who have been calling for the Portuguese to be given the job, but there is one player who, although he felt the decision was the right one, would have spoken out about who he thought was a better captain. 

Marcus Rashford speaks out

The English striker is undoubtedly one of the most important players that Manchester United has, his career with the club has given him the right to express himself and give his opinion on several issues, one of them is the captaincy; that although he considers Bruno Fernandes is the best leadership option that the team has, Rashford believes that the best captain he has played with is Wayne Rooney, who guided him while both were together.
