Erik Ten hag is a popular man in football for his detailed tactical decision even to the displeasure of some of his players. It is no news that he has been faced with numerous challenges since he took up the offer to become United's manager in the summer. His firm style of coaching has seen him quickly leave players that are not meeting the standard he has laid out.

Some of his most senior players have found it hard to adapt to the new managerial order which has resulted in many issues including the suspension of Cristiano Ronaldo and the dropping of club captain Harry Maguire after a few silly lapses during games. This situation has caused several divided opinions amongst the fanbase.

Despite his poor form, this player begs for more time

One of such situation is his refusal to start Harry Maguire in recent games following the injury to his much favored Raphaël Varane, who won't be available for United until after the World Cup. With Varane injured, fans expected Maguire to be the preferred player to replace him but instead, Victor Lindelöf has been.

This decision has come as a shock to both Maguire and the fans, with many questioning Ten Hag about his tactical insights. England coach Gareth Southgate is expected to name Maguire in his final list for the World Cup despite his limited appearance with United.

CAN THINGS TURN AROUND FOR MAGUIRE AT UNITED?

With only three matches left before the World Cup, things could pan out differently for Maguire if Ten Hag gives him more playing opportunities. It will certainly help United to keep their run going and also help to keep Maguire match-fit for the coming international tournament in Qatar.
