Manchester United are already gearing up for the start of the new Premier League season as they train at Carrington for their second warm-up game against Lyon in Edinburgh on Wednesday.
Erik Ten Hag has been very busy these days, with the pre-season already started, the imminent arrival of André Onana to the club and the possible reinforcements that he would like to incorporate as soon as possible have made that the coach has nothing else to do but to be thinking about how to improve the club, for that reason during the day the coach would have announced a very important situation for the future of the team.
As we already know, the captaincy at Manchester United is very important, because the player who has the armband is the one who will always be responsible for everything bad that happens with the club, so Ten Hag would have officially told Harry Maguire that he would no longer be the captain of the team, after three and a half years of wearing the captain's badge; this was news that practically everyone already knew, because during the last few days Maguire's departure has intensified.
This has brought with it the question of who will be the next captain, for some fans the decision should be obvious, however, there are at least three players who could wear the armband, even so, the final decision will be up to the coach, who will hopefully make the best decision for the future of the team.
Manchester United have great players with a lot of experience, however, there are only a few players who could be named as captain, the first and least likely, Raphael Varane who has been a world champion, the other could be Casemiro, who with his experience and winning mentality could be a good option and the last one as the most obvious choice for the coach, Bruno Fernandes, who since his arrival at Old Trafford has shown he has the character to lead the team and would undoubtedly do it in the best way.
