The top priority of Manchester United and Erik ten Hag since the end of the 2022-2023 season, has been to sign a new center forward, a world-class striker because since the abrupt departure of Cristiano Ronaldo the team was left without a reference in the offensive axis. In that sense, one of the great candidates to arrive at Old Trafford is Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.
Although it is true that Osimhen was not Erik ten Hag's first choice, due to the current circumstances the 24-year-old Nigerian striker could be a great option for Manchester United, however, the budgetary uncertainty that the team is going through could generate that they could not even approach Napoli to make an interesting offer to the Italian club's directors.
Victor Osimhen has become one of the key players of the team, scoring 31 goals between Serie A and Champions League last season. That is why his price has risen and in the first instance Napoli would not be interested in selling him. In addition, Manchester United does not have the financial capacity to pay the 120 million in which the striker is currently valued.
However, Napoli's president has not closed the door to a possible exit of Osimhen, as he knows that it could be the ideal time to get a good amount of money for him. Similarly, the player has said that although he is happy in Italy, everything is in the hands of the Napoli board.
Napoli president Aurelio di Laurentis has stated that they already have an agreement in principle to extend Victor Osimhen's contract for two more years, however he assured that if an "exorbitant and impossible to refuse" offer came in, they would consider a possible sale.
