Earlier today it was reported that Erik ten Hag and his coaching staff were open to the idea of selling Cristiano Ronaldo this summer as they consider him a toxic player in the squad. The new manager doesn’t like the negative attitude he is currently showing during training and the last two games that the team has lost.

It is no secret that Ronaldo wants to leave. That has been clear ever since last season ended and the Red Devils failed to qualify for this campaign’s UEFA Champions League. The 37-year-old forward tried to find a new club this summer with the help of his agent Jorge Mendes, but they have been unable to receive an offer.

Now, one of the club’s closest sources Samuel Luckhurst, has reported that Manchester United co-chairman Joel Glazer is against the possibility of selling Cristiano even though the player desire to leave. Right now there are two postures at the club’s headquarters, the ones who want CR7 to leave as soon as possible; and the owners wanting him to stay.

On the other hand, the Italian transfer market specialist, Fabrizio Romano has come out and said that the Portuguese striker and his agent are still working to find a potential last-minute transfer while exploring options. However, Luckhurst also added that Joel Glazer has resisted any proactive attempts to sell Ronaldo.

This is a business decision

Manchester United’s owner does not care that Cristiano Ronaldo has no intention to stay because he knows having a star like him in the team means lots of media attention and publicity deals. Let’s remember he also owns the NFL franchise of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers where he has Tom Brady as a player, so he still wants to have under contract two of the biggest names in sports history.
