Despite their latest proposal of €90 million for Antony being turned down by Ajax once again, Manchester United still believe the young Brazilian will be playing in Old Trafford this season. The English club hope that all the pressure that the player has put upon Ajax’s shoulders with his recent actions and interviews will be enough.

The 22-year-old winger has gone on strike with his current club in order to force them to let him make a move to England. He has refused to train with the rest of his teammates for more than a week now and even missed their last match in the Eredivisie against Sparta Rotterdam because of his attitude.

Once again, Antony Matheus has not been included on the list of players at his manager’s Alfred Schreuder disposal for their fixture today against FC Utrecht, because he has not returned to training and because he doesn’t have his mind fully focused on the game. Despite all this, they still hope that he will stay and eventually come back to the team.

Steve Bates from The Sunday People reported that Manchester United are ready to make a new bid for the Brazil international, which could be really close to the €100 mark. The player is still pushing internally to let him go, but it looks like the Dutch giants really don’t want to sell him to the Red Devils this summer because they won’t have enough time to replace him.

He wants to go

A couple of days ago, Antony Matheus gave out an exclusive interview with the Italian reporter Fabrizio Romano, where he publicly explained that he had asked Ajax to be sold ever since April, but they wouldn’t listen. He also seemed shocked that after asking for his departure, they turned down an Eredivisie record offer from Manchester United two days ago.
