Manchester United played their fifth match of the season against Real Madrid, the team coached by Ten Hag could not get on the scoreboard and ended up losing a match that was on paper the strongest test for the red devils in this tour that they have been doing since July 12.
During the match, United could not impose their style of play at any time, as quickly after 5 minutes, Jude Bellingham put the Spanish team ahead, who dominated most of the first half. In the second half, Ten Hag tried to make some changes with the intention of equalising the score, but in the second half there was a lack of chances, until in the final minutes with a bicycle kick by Joselu, which sentenced the Red Devils to defeat.
However, that was not the worst news the club would receive, as before Real Madrid's first goal, Kobbie Mainoo left the game with an apparent ankle injury after Rodrygo fell on him after a foul by Casemiro, the young star had to be helped off the pitch and taken straight to the dressing room.
This is of concern to Erik Ten Hag, who days earlier had praised the play of the youngster who has been one of the revelations for United this pre-season, and the coach said Mainoo would be promoted to the first team as a reward for his good performances, but now with the injury it remains to be seen how long he will be available.
Mainoo's injury status
The young star could only play three minutes in the game against Real Madrid, after leaving the field he was taken to the dressing room where the medical staff informed that he would not be able to return, after the game the coach said that it was too early to assess the severity of the injury of Kobbie Mainoo, although he was seen leaving with crutches and a protective boot, so it is not yet known if he will be available for the remaining games.
