Erik Ten Hag has made it clear since last season that his intention is not to keep defender Harry Maguire in the squad, so he would be looking to sell him during this transfer window and get something out of the 87 million they invested in him in the 19/20 season.
However, there have been many rumours about his situation in the team, as he has openly shown that he does not plan to change clubs and that he would prefer a lesser role than having to go through the transfer process; this would have opened the door for fans to speak out against the mentality of the defender, who has also had a poor performance that has been the cause that has brought him to this position.
As we remember, in the middle of the season, the coach decided to remove the captain's armband from Harry Maguire and relegate him to the bench, so from that moment his relationship with Ten Hag was fractured; now during the summer the coach would inform the English defender that he would be on the transferable list, so selling him is one of the team's priorities.
However, so far there has not been an offer for the player, although there are teams interested, one of the reasons that holds them back is the price of 50 million that Ten Hag has set for transferring Maguire; something really surprising knowing that his value on the market is half of what the Dutchman is asking for.
Manchester United are looking to further strengthen the team and now focus on the defensive part, the departure of Harry Maguire, could open a space for a player who fits the idea of the coach; the 28-year-old Spanish defender, Mario Hermoso, could be one of the options that Ten Hag is taking into account, as its value of 20 million, plus his experience, could make him the best replacement for Maguire.
