Harry Kane was heavily linked to a move to Manchester United before he decided to make a move to the Bayern Munich, and now it seems that the striker is ready to defend his England National teammate.
“I know there was some talks between a few clubs but Bayern was a team I was really interested by. There were not many other discussions. My focus is on here. Obviously Man United are a great club, but I decided to come here and I am happy I have.” where the words of Kane to start his press conference prior to the game in the Champions League tomorrow.
“Man United are going through a difficult period at the moment. We expect a reaction. We want to dictate the game at home and need to be wary of their qualities. They are strong on the counter with quick players. We have to create plenty of chances.” he added, now that he is ready to face the Manchester United team but now as a Bayern Munich player.
But Harry Kane was quick to defend Maguire, “Harry has come under unnecessary scrutiny. He has been scapegoated for a lot things. He is a good friend of mine, really hard working. He has been one of England's best defenders in the recent times.” showing that Kane definitely backs up the defender and the critics against him.
“We are fully behind him as a National team. In football you play against friends sometimes. Tomorrow night the friendship is briefly put aside as everyone wants to win for his team.” Kane added, showing that he does believe that they are true friends outside of the pitch and that the striker fully supports the defender, something that could have pushed him to sign for Man United.
Now it was reported that Harry Kane was more than ready to wait for Manchester United to sign him as a free agent in the summer of 2024 when his contract ended, but now it seems that the red devils office never gave him the security that would eventually happen.
