Yesterday’s morning, Anthony Martial left Carrington’s training ground after picking up a hamstring injury during the session. This set off the alarms of everyone as Manchester United will face Brighton & Hove Albion this Sunday in the first Premier League game of the season for the team.
During today’s press conference, Manchester United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, confirmed that Martial has no chances of playing at Old Trafford this weekend. When he asked about how long will the player be out of action, he didn’t give a certain answer: “It’s always difficult to say, I hope not too long. I think we will have solutions to sort it out”.

This injury could not have arrived at a worst moment for ten Hag. The French striker was supposedly going to be in the coach’s starting eleven as the number ‘9’. Now the Dutch manager has to figure out who is going to take Anthony’s place in the team-sheet. Erik ten Hag has already said that Cristiano Ronaldo is not fully fit to start the game.
It has been reported that ten Hag has been thinking on playing Marcus Rashford as a Centre-forward. This way, Anthony Elanga would start on the left wing, meanwhile Jadon Sancho would be on the right-hand side. However, you can never discard Ronaldo, as he could be the ace under the sleeve for the manager.
