Manchester United and André Onana have been embroiled in a long-running battle to sign the Cameroonian goalkeeper; it has been a few weeks since the club reportedly showed interest in the player and although no official agreement has been reached, a new update could surprise fans.

As we already know since the departure of David de Gea from the team earlier this month, United have not been able to get his replacement, so Ten Hag would have put as a main focus to get a goalkeeper who will adapt to his scheme of play and also feel comfortable with the ball at his feet, for that reason the first choice of the coach was always André Onana, whom he already knew from his time at Ajax and who made an impressive last season.

That is why Ten Hag's urgency to bring in the goalkeeper as soon as possible, as on several occasions he had already commented that he would be happy with Onana's arrival at United, and that his plan had always been to sign him before the tour of the United States, with the intention that the player would have time to adapt and not find the start of the Premier League difficult.

However, the club have not been able to finalise his signing so far and although there have been several rumours about his imminent arrival, United have yet to make an official statement; so, they will have to continue to occupy Tom Heaton as their first-choice goalkeeper for pre-season while Onana's signing becomes a reality.

Andre Onana's deal

Manchester United have already had several talks with Inter Milan for the goalkeeper, in fact, two of the three bids the club have sent have been rejected, so at one point there was uncertainty as to whether the club would be able to secure the player; however, in a further update Inter Milan could be about to accept the latest offer of £50m plus £5m in bonuses. So, André Onana's arrival at Old Trafford could happen in the next few hours.
