Here we go! United’s provisional squad numbers for 2023/2024 have been confirmed

A few days before the Premier League’s opening match against Wolverhampton Wonderers FC, on Monday night at Old Trafford, red devils revealed publicly the provisional squad numbers for 2023/2024 season. Obviously, it must be modified and actualized as soon as possible: this weekend could be a reasonable time to add or delete names regarding the negotiations United is being carried out with other national and international clubs.

In this opportunity, Erik Ten Hag’s football players majority will keep the same number used last season, including two of the new names who reinforce the team this summer. Those are the African goalkeeper André Onana and the English midfielder Mason Mount, who inherited the emblematic number 7 from Cristiano Ronaldo.

Is particular the case of another new member of red devils for the upcoming season, Rasmus Hojlund. The blond hair Danish athlete, who took part in the first training lesson at Carrington, hasn’t a number assigned yet, but it’s expected to be available very soon. 

Furthermore, the Manchester United’s executives didn´t close the current transfer market because there are some negotiations in course and must be finished as soon as possible. For that reason, the final list of the numbers for next year isn’t concluded yet. In Europe, the transfer market will end the 31st of August.

The strange name that appears in the provisional squad number list

Manchester United published the provisional squad number list today in his official website and social media. Surprisingly, Harry Maguire appears with the number 5 and will play in West Ham, like Fred, who is Fenerbahce's new player. Besides, the other player that didn’t figure is Mason Greenwood, who could return these days after his suspension further notice. The rest of the football players are shown as fans and followers expected to happen.
