Manchester United received terrible news this afternoon that one of the club's legends is in a critical condition, which has undoubtedly grabbed the headlines and united fans in calling for a speedy recovery.


While on holiday in Croatia on Friday, Manchester United and Netherlands legend Edwin van der Sar had to be rushed to hospital; the 52-year-old goalkeeper was taken to hospital by helicopter after not feeling well while on holiday on an island in Croatia; the official report reads: "On Friday, Edwin van der Sar has had a bleeding around his brain. He's currently in hospital in the intensive care unit and is in a stable condition. Once there is more concrete information, an update will follow". 


Van der Sar reportedly resigned as Ajax's chief executive at the beginning of June and shared his desire to relax, get away from football and do different things. After making the decision, he said he felt he needed to rest a bit and that it did not feel right to make a decision about the future of the Dutch club, which is why he decided to resign from his post. 


During this situation many clubs have shown their support for the goalkeeper via social media, Manchester United was one of the first to send their support and strength to Edwin, so we hope that his situation can turn out in the best way for the goalkeeper and his family.
