Manchester United have finally made the signing of André Onana official, during a short interview in New York, manager Erik Ten Hag unveiled his second signing of the summer, with the hope of seeing him in action as soon as possible.

As we already know, United had been practically all summer with the goalkeeper situation unresolved; the first weeks the club was negotiating with David de Gea with the intention of reaching an agreement, however, throughout those negotiations both parties were disagreeing more and more in their ideas, until the red devils had to say goodbye to their goalkeeper for more than 12 years.

During the last two weeks the team was focused not only on the start of the pre-season, but also on the recruitment of their new goalkeeper, André Onana was always the chosen one to fill that place, this because he had already been at Ajax one year before with Ten Hag, so he was one of the main reasons for the player to come to Old Trafford, besides that he always showed a great interest and a great openness in agreeing personal terms, compared to De Gea who was not willing to lower his salary.

Although the negotiations were far from straightforward, the Red Devils were able to agree a transfer for around £52m plus £5m in bonuses, which would ensure that Onana would be tied to Manchester United until 2028; this is no doubt a complete joy for the fans who are looking forward to a new era in goal.

Onana's message to the fans

The Cameroonian goalkeeper is fast becoming a fan favourite, his interest in joining United and the way he has always expressed himself about Ten Hag, made it clear that he is committed to the club, and during the press conference to introduce him, André Onana said: "Joining Manchester United is an incredible honour, and I have worked hard all my life to get to this moment. "Going out to Old Trafford to defend our goal and contribute to the team will be another incredible experience.
