Erik Ten Hag released the squad list for the first game of the pre-season, some well-known names were on the list while others for some reason were absent, however, one of the players who was most notable for his absence was Brazilian Fred, who during this pre-season could have his last chance to show the coach why he should stay.

As we already know, the case of Fred's possible departure remains unresolved, Ten Hag had mentioned to the Brazilian midfielder that his time with United could be coming to an end, as since the player's arrival in 2018, he has not been able to consolidate the way the team expected, plus with the arrival of Mason Mount his playing time could be affected even more.

Another reason why Ten Hag would like to terminate the services of the Brazilian would be because of his contract, which expires next summer, so the club would have the possibility to sell him during this transfer market and thus be able to use his sale for the addition of new signings, otherwise the midfielder would leave for free for the next season.

However, the manager has not yet received a solid proposal from any team, although Fulham and some Saudi Arabian clubs have shown interest in Fred, none have made an offer; United would be willing to receive a figure of between 20-25 million pounds for his transfer, despite the fact that when they signed him the team had to invest 59 million euros, so the club would seek a financial remuneration in some way.

Ten Hag did not call up Fred for the game against Leeds United

Manchester United faced this afternoon against Leeds, the red devils could not count on the midfielder because of the muscular overload that the player was carrying, so the coach decided to be cautious and give Fred a couple of days of rest until Saturday that the whole team returns to training and see if he can have minutes against Lyon.
