Manchester United changed their style of play with the arrival of Erik ten Hag, changing many aspects of the way the team played. Among them the dynamism he was looking for between his midfielders, one more in the back and the other one having a little more responsibility to attack.
Manchester United had many rumours surrounding the signing of Paul Pogba, among them the young Dutchman, Frenkie de Jong, or the 30-year-old experienced Brazilian, Casemiro, who became the star signing, leaving the rest of the signings in the background.
Renewed midfield: Christian Eriksen is Manchester United's ace
This is what Casemiro needs to be as determinant as he was at Real Madrid
Since the start of the season Erik ten Hag was very specific about the desire he had for a midfield operation, how important it was to fulfil his vision. Christian Eriksen never doubted the coach's way of playing, and despite playing one game as a striker, the rest of the games he has found a very positive level of play.
The player suffered a heart attack that looked like it would keep him off the field for the rest of his life, a year on from that event the player finishes 90 minute games, and on top of that, standing out as a key player in virtually every game he has played.
Christian Eriksen's story is one to admire, as he finished 2021 without playing and with doubts about the rest of his career. He signed the first half of the year with Brentford, and this summer against all odds he was presented with the best opportunity of his career, arrived for free and has been the revelation of world football, as well as doing so in great physical and collective form.
