Manchester United defeated Arsenal today and have proven that they are the team to beat this season in the Premier League. After a turbulent start of the campaign, where we lost the first two games, including a 4-0 defeat against Brentford, it looks like the new manager has found the players he can trust.

After that defeat, Erik ten Hag decided to make some adjustments to the starting XI and hasn’t moved a thing ever since. One of those changes was dropping the team’s captain Harry Maguire to the bench for good, and he has been proven correct after making that decision. For some reason, no other United manager had the guts to do that before.

Since Harry Maguire has been sitting on the bench, Manchester United have gone on and won four games in a row and only conceded two goals. Lisandro Martinez and Raphaël Varane have formed a solid centre-back partnership and it looks like Maguire won’t be back anytime soon as he isn't near the level of the other defenders.

The Argentinian and the French man have looked great together and the fans just want to keep seeing them playing together every week because the defense finally is looking good. People are even started to compare them to the likes of Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic, one of the best centre-back pairings in the club’s long history.

What did he do now?

Today Harry Maguire obviously started from the bench but entered the game in the 89th minute after replacing a tired Lisandro Martinez. The English defender was on the pitch only for a minute, when he made a foul and got himself a yellow card. He looked slow and had to grab the Arsenal forward in order to stop him.
