Guardiola cries, the signing he wanted for City but was snatched away by Ten Hag

During the preseason, André Onana has been presented as the new goalkeeper of United, after 12 years with David de Gea, the manager decided that it was time for a change, for that reason the Cameroonian goalkeeper arrived with great expectations and filling all the fans with enthusiasm because it is expected to perform even better, due to the qualities that characterize him. 

Onana, was one of the most sought after goalkeepers in this transfer window, not only Erik Ten Hag was one of the coaches who had the goalkeeper in his sights, it is said that Pep Guardiola was probably also interested in the player, although he has a great goalkeeper like Ederson, he did not want to miss the opportunity to sign Onana, who fits his system of play. 

However, the Cameroonian goalkeeper was never really interested in joining Manchester City, according to the interview he gave after his move to United, he said that he was very happy to play for Ten Hag again and that it was a privilege to defend the goal at Old Trafford. This kind of statement did not sit well with Guardiola, who has openly considered himself a fan of André Onana.

The way the Cameroonian goalkeeper plays was reportedly one of the reasons why the manager was interested in the player according to an interview Guardiola explained: "The way they play, with the high pressure, Onana is an exceptional goalkeeper to take the position to build. Very, very good. This is a clear indication that Manchester United did the right thing in signing him as soon as possible.
