Frenkie De Jong has told his teammates he might go to Manchester United

Earlier this morning, it was reported by Ferran Martínez from Barcelona newspaper ‘Mundo Deportivo’ that Manchester United will make an offensive move for Frenkie De Jong next week. The club remains confident that they can complete the signing as they are prepared to offer him and FC Barcelona the best possible offer. But not only that, Erik ten Hag will have a meeting face-to-face with De Jong.

Now, the other Barcelona newspaper ‘Sport’ has reported that Frenkie De Jong has told his teammates in the dressing room that he might make a move to Manchester United soon. The player is furious with the Barca board for the way they are treating him and how they are pressuring him to leave, even though he still has years remaining on his contract and they still owe him some differed wages.

They add that the 25-year-old player has been more open to change in recent hours, although he foresees that, if the operation is done, it will happen in the final days of the transfer window. However, the Dutch midfielder would not provide facilities to the Spanish side in anything that helps his exit because he is angry at them.

It is worth recalling that FC Barcelona is working towards selling some players this summer in order to solve their financial problems. De Jong’s sale would make their task a lot easier because the player has a really high salary and he is worth a lot of money as he still is one of the best footballers in the world at his position.

Let's not celebrate prematurely 

Although all these Barcelona sources are all mentioning that the destination for Frenkie de Jong would be Old Trafford, it is worth noting that the same sources were saying the same thing about Chelsea a week ago. Nevertheless, if the scheduled meeting between ten Hag and his former player next week ends up happening, then it’s very likely we see De Jong with de United shirt on.
