After losing a crucial Premier League game to reigning champions Manchester City, Erik ten Hag thanked the opposition and the Citizens' manager Pep Guardiola for showing them how to play such games, a reality check for the Red Devils to concentrate on improving.
It was a defeat that cut into their rhythm, as they had won four in a row. The Red Devils did not expect to lose like that, they even believed they were on a similar level because of the team's run of form and defensive solidity with Lisandro Martinez and the recently injured Raphael Varane, who is the team's defensive leader.

Manchester United are playing at Cyprus in their third Europa League match, it's an important game to regain confidence and motivation. It is very important to win on Omonia's field because of the qualification in their group in the international competition, and also to start with a new streak of good results and not to move away from the objectives of this season.
Another lesson for Erik ten Hag was that he lost with a similar approach to other matches. He fielded a very similar team with a very predictable starting line-up, a mistake that paid for itself dearly as Pep Guardiola was innovative and dominated the whole game and figured out how to hurt the Old Trafford team. Erik ten Hag knew he had to be innovative without over-experimenting.
Man Utd were very associative, they were favourites all game because of the level they showed in Cyprus. Omonia had only one chance to take advantage, a counter-attack that Karim Ansarifard finished to complicate the next 45 minutes of the match, Man Utd will have to overcome the adverse result in Cyprus.
