Manchester United is doing so well at the moment thanks to Erik ten Hag after accumulating four wins in a row and getting the team fighting for the Premier League title. The manager has proven already that he doesn’t care about the players’ past, but only the present as to how they could help the team.

This has been seen when he decided to drop some sacred cows from the starting XI like Cristiano Ronaldo, Harry Maguire, and Luke Shaw in recent weeks. The three of them weren’t helping the team with their performances and he didn’t hesitate in sending them to the bench.

It was also reported throughout the summer that the new manager wanted to get rid of the dead wood in the dressing room. That’s why some players like Eric Bailly and James Garner were sold, as they didn’t feature in his plans for the future. Erik ten Hag tried to get rid of another player during the transfer window, but couldn’t.

This player is non-other than Phil Jones. The English centre-back hasn’t been a regular first-team player for quite some time, but somehow he is still in the squad after all these years of not playing. A lot of managers have come and gone, but he is still around getting a paycheck for sitting at home. This summer he received some offers but rejected them all to stay at Old Trafford and not play.

The ultimatum from Erik ten Hag

The Dutch manager got tired of Phil Jones and now he would have kicked him out of Manchester United’s dressing room, so the club can start to look for new players that could actually have a positive impact and help the team achieve its goals. The 30-year-old defender could be on his way out this winter.
