Manchester United suffered a painful defeat against Bayern Munich on their UEFA Champions League debut. Erik ten Hag's team traveled to Munich to meet a Bavarian team that displayed its best football with quality players such as Musiala, Harry Kane, Leroy Sane, among others. Thomas Tuchel's side were better, however United were able to discount three goals that helped the team on goal difference. At the moment, the team stands in the last place of the Group with 0 points.
Similarly, defense remains an obstacle for Ten Hag. With several players injured, the Dutchman decided to start with Dalot, Lindelof, Martinez and Reguilon. Nonetheless, as seen in the match, the current Manchester United defense did not hold the pace of the German team causing Bayern to score 4 goals. It should be noted that despite Manchester United's goals, these were more due to defensive errors as well as puntual mistakes of Bayern's goalkeeper. On the other hand, Andre Onana made a punctual error that caused Tuchel's team to take the lead in the 28th minute of the match.
With that said, many fans are upset with the performance of Onana, who arrived at Old Trafford just this summer for approximately £47 million. The words of some fans of the team is that the Cameroonian is not a goalkeeper who can withstand the pressure of the Champions League. At the moment, the only option on the bench is Altay Bayindir, which hasn't debuted with the team. After beating Manchester United with authority, Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel spoke about yesterday's game.
In the words of the coach himself, his team dominated but it was not enough to feel safe on the field. Even, mentioning that there are things that still have to continue working. These were the statements of the coach for DAZN:
