After a tough start to the season, Manchester United have turned the situation around and have now won four games in a row and are only three points away from the top of the Premier League table beating teams like Liverpool and Arsenal on the way.

This achievement hasn’t only been thanks to Erik ten Hag, but also to the players who have shown great character and guts to recover from such a poor start after the defeats suffered against Brighton and Brentford without scoring a single goal in those games.

One of the players who have reignited his career this season is Diogo Dalot. The Portuguese full-back has spent the majority of his Manchester United career sitting on the bench as Aaron Wan-Bissaka was the starting right-back on the team for a couple of years. But now, this has changed.

The 23-year-old impressed the new manager during the pre-season, who tried to sell Wan-Bissaka this summer as he preferred Dalot over him. The former FC Porto footballer has become one of the best right-backs in the Premier League and has been a crucial part of the team’s good run in recent games.

Why could he be leaving?

Despite being one of the best players on the team, his contract is yet to be extended and will run out in June 2023. This means that if the club doesn’t renew his contract by January, he could start negotiating with other teams and sign with whatever club he wants as a free agent, with Manchester United not getting a single penny.
