Yesterday night, the whole football world was shocked right after the richest man alive Elon Musk tweeted that he was buying Manchester United. However, he then immediately tweeted that he was only joking as he isn’t interested in acquiring any Sports team, but if it were any team, then it would be Man United.

As a consequence of the Tesla owner’s tweet the club’s shares were boosted by nearly 17 percent up to $14.90 in the United States pre-market trade, before settling at $13.20. Hours later it was reported by Miguel Delaney from Independent, that at least three consortiums were thinking about making a formal offer to buy Manchester United as the current owners would only sell the club for $6 billion.

Now Sir Jim Ratcliffe's spokesman from his company Ineos confirmed his intention in buying the football club with a statement: “Sir Jim Ratcliffe tends to seek full control of the business he buys and has the means to do so, but would be willing to discuss a minority holding with the Glazers if it was part of a plan to take control at a later date”, via Matt Dickinson.

“The Glazers have come under fierce criticism from United fans, especially as the team has plunged into crisis amid chaotic player recruitment, but Ineos are willing to explore opportunities. This is not about the money that has been spent or not spent. Jim is looking at what can be done now and, knowing how important the club is to the city, it feels like the time is right for a reset”, via Matt Dickinson.

He is crazy to own a club

Phil Brown from Times Sport, reported that Ratcliffe made a late bid to buy Chelsea in May after Roman Abramovich was forced to sell his club. However, he failed as Todd Boehly eventually bought the Blues. With that offer, Jim proved that he is interested in owning a football club and would love it that could be his favorite club Manchester United.
