Rasmus Hojlund's goal drought has become a major talking point at Manchester United, with the Danish striker failing to find the back of the net in over 15 appearances. This has led to speculation that manager Ruben Amorim may consider benching the 20-year-old in favor of other options, including 17-year-old Chido Obi-Martin.
Hojlund arrived at Old Trafford with high expectations, having made a name for himself as a prolific goalscorer in the Austrian Bundesliga. However, he has struggled to adapt to the Premier League, failing to replicate his previous form. His lack of goals has become a major concern for ten Hag, who is under pressure to deliver results.
Obi-Martin, on the other hand, is a highly-rated prospect who has shown glimpses of his talent in the youth ranks. The 17-year-old striker has a knack for scoring goals and is considered one of the brightest prospects at Manchester United.
Given Hojlund's struggles, there is a case to be made for giving Obi-Martin a chance in the starting lineup. The young striker is full of confidence and has nothing to lose. He could provide the spark that Manchester United's attack desperately needs.
However, it is important to remember that Obi-Martin is still very young and inexperienced. He has yet to prove himself at the highest level and may not be ready for the pressure of playing in the Premier League.
Amorim faces a difficult decision. He must weigh the potential benefits of giving Obi-Martin a chance against the risks of exposing him too soon. The manager is also aware that dropping Hojlund could further damage the young striker's confidence.
Ultimately, ten Hag's decision will be based on what he believes is best for the team. However, he must also consider what is best for the individual players involved. Rushing Obi-Martin into the starting lineup could be detrimental to his development.
A more sensible approach might be to gradually introduce Obi-Martin into the first team. He could be given opportunities to come off the bench and gain experience playing alongside senior players. This would allow him to develop at his own pace and avoid being thrown into the deep end too soon.
