The possibility of Paul Pogba returning to Manchester United has sparked debate amongst fans and pundits alike. While his previous spell at Old Trafford was arguably underwhelming, former United striker Dwight Yorke believes the Frenchman still possesses the talent to make a significant impact at the club.

In an interview with Sports Lens, Yorke acknowledged the risks associated with re-signing Pogba, particularly given his recent doping ban and turbulent past at the club. "Paul Pogba is better than what we currently have, that's for sure," Yorke stated. "I don't know if the fans would welcome him back and make his life easier, that could be a problem. But a physically fit Pogba, playing to his ability, would undoubtedly add quality to the team. He's an incredible player, with truly great talent. He brings that 'something special' to the team with his presence. He does things that other players can't."

Yorke further emphasized that Pogba, despite his recent setbacks, remains a player of immense talent. "Considering his suspension and the fact that he's been away from football, I think he has something to prove," he added. "He doesn't drink, obviously he looks after himself, so it's worth taking a risk and offering him a two-year contract. I would consider that option. I definitely wouldn't rule it out. Why not? Looking at our midfield, Pogba's arrival would improve the situation."

A Risky Proposition

Pogba's potential return to Old Trafford is undoubtedly a risky proposition. His previous spell at the club was plagued by injuries and inconsistencies, and his departure left a sour taste in the mouths of many fans. Furthermore, the recent doping ban has raised concerns about his fitness and commitment.

However, if Pogba can rediscover his best form, he could be a valuable asset to the team. His passing range, vision, and ability to dictate the tempo of the game could be invaluable in the Premier League.

A Wait-and-See Approach

With Pogba currently serving an 18-month ban following a reduced sentence from the Court of Arbitration for Sport, a potential return to Manchester United remains speculative at this stage. In the meantime, the club will continue to assess their midfield options and explore other potential transfer targets.

Regardless of whether Pogba returns to Old Trafford, his potential comeback has certainly ignited debate amongst fans and pundits alike. It remains to be seen whether this intriguing possibility will ever become a reality.
