Manchester United manager Rúben Amorim has hailed his side's "different mentality" after their impressive 2-2 draw against Liverpool at Anfield. The Portuguese coach believes the Red Devils produced a performance that was a far cry from their recent struggles, highlighting a change in attitude rather than tactics.
Speaking after the match, Amorim said, "Today we were a different team, not because of the system, the tactics or the technique, but because of the way we approached this game. It doesn't matter who the opponent is, or the stadium, it has to be like this."
United have been in a dire run of form in recent weeks, with many fearing they could be dragged into a relegation battle. However, their performance against Liverpool suggested a team that was finally starting to turn a corner.
Amorim's comments highlight the importance of a positive mindset in football. The United manager believes that his players have lacked belief in recent weeks, but they showed a different level of confidence and determination at Anfield.
"We needed to show everyone that we are still a big club," Amorim said. "We needed to show our fans that we care. And I think we did that today."
The draw at Anfield is a significant result for United. Not only has it halted a run of poor results, but it has also given the players a much-needed boost in confidence.
With a number of tough fixtures on the horizon, United will need to maintain this level of performance if they are to climb the Premier League table. The draw at Anfield has shown that they have the quality to compete with the best, and the fans will be hoping that this is the start of a new era for the club.
